Interior is clean and free of stray markings, though there is some significant age-toning to the page edges throughout and a brief previous owner's inscription on the first free end-paper. Overall, this is a good copy.

Jacket is only lightly worn though there is some mild soiling to the covers. Book itself shows only minor shelf-wear. Interior is clean, bright and free of stray markings. Overall, this is a very good copy.
New York:E. P. Dutton and Company, Inc. (1937). xv+784pp. Illustrated with 33 maps and 12 plates. Hardcover with remains of dust jacket. Beige boards lightly soiled and shelf-worn. Internally, the end-pages are age toned but otherwise, a very good, clean copy. No previous owners marks or signatures found. The dust jacket is quite worn with chips and tears to edges and missing the lower half of its spine strip with the lower half of front panel torn off, but still present.
New York:E. P. Dutton and Company, Inc. 1946. Stated 1st edition. 415pp. Illustrated with 25 full page drawings by Lili Rethi and 48 pen and ink sketches by Louis H. Ruyl. Hardcover with dust jacket. The first free end-page has been removed, but otherwise a very good, clean copy with no other marks or signatures. Blue boards have title in gilt on spine and decoration on front cover. The top edge points are bumped and there is a bit of fading to the top edges. The dust jacket, although still in one piece, is quite worn, with many small chips and tears to edges.

Paste-down illustration on front and rear boards in very good condition; blue spine with orange print lightly soiled; edges lightly shelf-worn with edge points still sharp. The binding is tight and square. Internally, very small previous booksellers book-plate lower inside edge of first free end-page with a previous printed price sticker to the upper right edge of same. A bit of age toning to the front hinge (both hinges still intact), otherwise the pages are clean and bright. A very good, bright copy.

Jacket is worn at the edges and spine with some light fraying and a few small chips and tears. Book itself is only mildly shelf-worn. Interior is clean and free of stray markings. There is a previous owners name on the front free end-paper in blue pencil or crayon. Otherwise, the pages are clean and bright. Blue boards with light soiling and shelfwear as well as an old stain vertically on the front board, as if something dripped down. Binding is tight and hinges intact. Overall a good solid copy.
