The white print has chipped off the spine. The top page edges are soiled with dust residue. Internally, aside from a previous owners name to the top of the title page, a very good, bright copy.

Internally, previous owners name penned to 1st free end-page and aside from some light age-toning to pages, a very good, clean copy. *Makers of the Nineteenth Century edited by Basil Williams.

Foxing to front endpapers, frontis, title page and endpapers;rest of interior is pretty clean. Green pebbled boards are worn,soiled/sunfaded. Square and solidly bound. Edward Livingston (1764-1836) was an American jurist and statesman. He was an influential figure in the drafting of the Louisiana Civil Code of 1825. He represented both New York and later Louisiana in Congress and he served as the U.S. Secretary of State from 1831-33.

Salem, Massachussets:The Essex Institute. 1925. Two volumes. Hardcover with dust jacket. Jackets are worn with several small chips and tears to the edges. Some soiling to the covers but otherwise in good condition. Books themselves show only some light shelf-wear. Interiors are both clean and free of stray markings. Overall, this is a very good set.
