New York; American Geographical Society, 1934.  xiv+467pp. First editon thus. Gray cloth hardcover boards, no dj. Good condition.  Ex-lib.with unobtrusive raised stamp to top of title page, and a few neatly pencilled details on ffep.  Boards somewhat worn and grimy.  Gilt titling on cover and spine is bright. Dust spots to top and facing page edges. Age spots through the title page, and again on the last few pages. Browning of the glue at the inside hinges.  Binding is square and tight, text is unmarked.  This presents Medina's research into the 16th century voyage of Francisco de Orellana down the Amazon, and the il-fated expedition which this leader subsequently organized to go back up that river and establish colonies on its shores in the name of Spain.
