New York; G.P. Putnams's Sons, 1928. Two volumes. First Edition. Hardcover with DJs. xii+372pp and x+365pp. Illustrated with b/w photographs. Very Good+ condition in Fair jackets.  Jackets are shelfworn, soiled, and have tears (some with missing chips).  Both volumes have clean, unbumped, deep blue cloth boards, with gilt titling that remains bright. Top edge gilt. Deckled fore-edges have gathered some dust. Interiors are clean, unmarked, square and tightly bound. "The record of any large railroad is apt to be the record of the social and economic life of the territory it serves.  B&O is no exception to this. In the first 100 years of its life its record becomes that of the great industrial area that it serves.  Crossing or entering 13 of the states of the Union, reaching 8 out of the 10 largest cities, its history automatically becomes that of a very considerable part of America."  (cfm)
