ANDERSEN KALENDER 1913 ANDERSEN KALENDER 1913 ANDERSEN KALENDER 1913

Vienna: M. Munk. Retold by Hugo Salus. Illustrated by Heinrich Lofter and Joseph Urban. No pagination. A calender with 12 beautiful full page lithographs, illustrating 12 fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen. Text on one side with illustration on the other, and both within an elaborate gilt border. Also each calender page lists feast or saints days for each month. Urban and Lofter were brothers-in-law, who figured prominently in the Jungendstil (Art Nouveau) Movement in Germany. The calender has been rebound in plain brown flexi-covers. The binding is only in fair condition with some pages beginning to separate and others fully separated, though intact and present. There is also a stain on the outside margins starting at the first page, getting slightly larger on the next, but then progressively smaller until disappearing around December. The largest stain, at the January page, is 3 inches long and intrudes from the edge about 5/8 s of an inch onto the page, never actually intruding on the illustration or border.
