Inside is fairly clean with an owner's penned name, scattered spots, handling grime and a couple small dampstains. A fairy tale told in English by translator B.H. Chamberlain, illustrated with lovely color illustrations by Hasegawa, and printed on delicate folded crepe paper. (cfm)

Internally, a previous owners gift inscription to 2nd free endpage, otherwise pages clean. Some tissue guards are age toned but plates are clean and bright.

A very good, clean copy with a very good, slightly edgeworn dust jacket. *This book deals exclusively and authoritatively with the "Pier-head Artists" and their work. This was the name given by seamen to the artists who supplied them with portraits of the ships they sailed in, pictures which a century ago changed hands for a few shillings and are now eagerly sought after by collectors and museums.
