Brown boards with decoration in gilt to front cover and title in gilt to spine strip soiled, with some spotted stains (not affecting gold-embosssed center illustration) to the lower-left quadrant, as well as general mottling to front cover and spine strip and light wear along edges, spine ends and edge points gently bumped and worn. Internally in very good condition. A previous owners inscription to 2nd free end-page with some offset to opposite page, otherwise a very good clean copy. The binding is tight with hinges intact..

Decorated boards rubbed, soiled and shelfworn with wear to all edgs, spine ends frayed, and edge points worn to boards. Internally end pages lightly soiled, with an old bookseller ticket to bottom of verso of 1st free endpage. The binding is tight with hinges intact, however cracked at between contents and preface page. Several pages have been jammed along fore-edge with resulting small crease or tear to margins. Overall, a good solid copy.

New York:Printed for Samuel Campbell by D. & G. Bruce. 1809. 2nd edition. viii+344pp. Hardcover. Bound in full leather with title label to spine strip. Leather is quite worn, chipped and scuffed, with edge points still sharp but worn to boards and spine ends worn and chipped. Internally, end pages heavily worn and age toned with a previous owners name to 1st free endpage but otherwise although paper is age-toned throughout, pages are relatively free of foxing. The binding is tight and boards still firmly attached. *Author lived with the Schuyler Family for a time in upstate New York.

Spine ends worn and chipped with the front board having an inch tear from top, along gutter. Internally, brown end-pages have a bookplate to inside front board with some old glue stains in the same area. Otherwise the pages are clean and bright, free of previous owners marks or signatures. The binding is tight and hinges intact. Includes a partial vocabulary (4pp) of the Chinook Jargon. *Published posthumously, the Author was one of the first Union Officers killed in the Civil War.

Internally map end-pages just slightly age toned but clean, free of previous owners marks or signatures. The paper is slightly age-toned throughout. The binding is tight with front hinge started and rear intact. Overall, a very good, square copy.
