New York: Charles Scribner's Sons. 1935. 2nd edition, 1st Scribners. 319pp. Illustrated with photographs. Hardcover with dust jacket. End-pages lightly age-toned with penciled name on inside front board; light foxing scattered throughout as well as to rear end-pages; otherwise a very good copy. The dust jacket has done its job well and the boards are still bright, however the dust jacket, although still in one piece, is worn, soiled and faded with several small chips and tears. *"An accurate portrayal of frontier life...The author came to Deadwood by overland stage as a child and lived there to womanhood. She witnessed much of the lawlessness for which the town was famous and saw some of the "bad men" sentenced in the court of her father, first Federal Judge in the district."
