New York:G. P. Putnam's Sons. 1900. One hundredth thousand printing. 409pp. With fold out list of clues. Hardcover. Decorated boards rubbed and soiled with some scratching and indents. Page edges soiled. Internally, a previous owners bookplate pasted to the inside front board, with end-pages lightly soiled, otherwise a very good, clean copy. The binding is tight and hinges intact but with a crack to the binding at page 240/241. Overall, a good solid copy. *According to Wikipedia, "She (Green)  was one of the first writers of detective fiction in America and distinguished herself by writing well plotted, legally accurate stories. Green has been called 'the mother of the detective novel'." This was her first detective novel.
