Hardcover.  Maroon boards soiled and shelfworn, with wear along edges, spine ends frayed and chipped, and edge points gentle bumped. Edges of spine strip have two small gouges, one near author's name on rear edge and the other on front edge, along title. Internally, end-pages lightly age toned with two bookplates, one to inside front board with an inscription above it, and an embossed gold sticker to top of 1st free end-page.  Paper throughout slightly age, but aside from a couple old small damp stains to top edge of first and last few pages, clean.  The binding is tight with front hinge intact but rear hinge cracked.
