Chapman and Hall, 1839. xvi + 624pp.  Illustrated by Phiz. Hardcover. Very good first edition bound from the parts. Full leather binding with borders and spine in gilt. Shelf wear to edges and corners bumped. Marbled end pages are mostly clean but have a previous owners book plate on front pastedown. Pages generally clean and bright with some soiling to pages adjacent to illustrations. Mixed state with  “visitor” corrected to “sister” on p123, but “latter” for “letter” on p.160. Frontispiece and first four plates from the first state. Front wrappers to parts VI and VII bound in back along with 2 rear wrappers and 7 leaves of advertisements. Binding is tight and hinges are intact.
