First illustrated edition of the author's account of his travels through Gaul which was first printed in Geneva in 1627. A good copy bound in full leather by Henderson and Billet bookbinders of Edinburgh. Both boards are detached and spine ends are chipped. The first flyleaf has the owner's mark of J. H. Burton and a later note below identifying the owner as Scottish author and advocate John Hill Burton (1809-1881). Pages are generally clean although they are lightly age toned. Includes an engraved title page by Jacob Van Meurs and 22 plates showing views of different cities. All illustrations are in very good condition. Cities include Nancy, Sedan, Paris, Orleans, Moulins-Engilbert, Nantes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier, Marseille, Orange, Lyon, Rouen, London, Amiens, Calais, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Leiden, Amsterdam, and Geneva. Binding is tight.
