There is some mottling to the front cover in such a pattern that suggests another book having been laid on top of this one for some time. Otherwise the covers show only some light staining. Rear cover is soiled. Internally clean and bright, with no stray markings. There is a gift inscription inked onto the first free end-paper. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.

Decorated brown boards lightly soiled and shelfworn, with wear along edges, spine ends chipped and worn and edge points gentle bumped and worn to boards. Page edges soiled. Internally free of previous owners marks or signatures, but with light foxing and a few smudges scattered throughout. The binding is tight, but cracked at title page (and missing frontispiece) with rear hinge just starting. Page 14/15 is detached but laid in.
