Binding at ends of spine and hinges shows wear as well. Internally signatures are not tight, but pages are clean, bright and free of stray markings. Otherwise a good copy.
London:John Lane the Bodley Head Ltd. (1929). 164pp. Illustrated. Hardcover. Binding is lightly worn and soiled with some sun-fading to the spine. Interior is clean and free of stray markings, save for a previous owner's signature at the top of first free end-paper belonging to Richardson Wright, editor of House & Garden magazine from 1914-1946. Also, a rusty paperclip has eaten through a half-inch of the front fly-leaf. Some light age-toning and foxing throughout. Otherwise, a very good copy.

Binding shows wear along the edges, in some places to boards -- most notable at the top and bottom of the spine. Interior is free of stray markings, though each plate has small light library stamp at edge of illustration. Some light foxing throughout. Library bookplate on the front boards verso.

The inside front flap is detached and there is a long tear at the front that almost detaches most of the front from the spine. Binding, however, shows only minor shelf-wear. Interior is clean and free of stray markings save for a previous owner's signature and an inscription from another previous owner on the first free end-paper. Overall, a very good copy with a poor dust jacket.
