Hardcover.  Blue boards slightly soiled, rubbed and shelf-worn with some chipping along front spine edge and wear to top and bottom of spine ends. Edge points sharp but worn to boards with soiling to page edges.  Internally, end pages are age toned with a previous owners name penciled to 1st free end-page. Moderate foxing scattered throughout, often to pages adjacent to illustrations. The binding is tight and square, but cracked at page 81 and both hinges.   *"The practice of pressing men---that is to say, of taking by intimidation or force those who will not volunteer---would seem to have been world-wide in its adoption.
